How to convert acceleration

All 19 acceleration units are converted through a single base unit, so any unit can be converted to any other. Enter a value, choose the units and press Convert, or open a conversion page for the exact factor and a reference table.

For example, 1 meter per square second (m/s²) = 0.001 kilometer per square second (km/s²).

Acceleration unit definitions

Meter per Square Second (m/s²)
Meters per second squared is the SI unit of acceleration: a change in speed of one meter per second every second.
Gal (Gal)
The gal, or galileo, is one centimeter per second squared, used in geodesy and gravimetry.
Foot per Square Second (ft/s²)
Feet per second squared is the US customary unit of acceleration, exactly 0.3048 meters per second squared.
Acceleration of Gravity (g)
Standard gravity, g, is exactly 9.80665 meters per second squared, the nominal acceleration of free fall at the surface of the Earth. Roller-coaster and aircraft loads are given in multiples of g.
