How to convert torque

All 17 torque units are converted through a single base unit, so any unit can be converted to any other. Enter a value, choose the units and press Convert, or open a conversion page for the exact factor and a reference table.

For example, 1 newton meter (N·m) = 100 newton centimeter (N·cm).

Torque unit definitions

Newton Meter (N·m)
The newton-meter is the SI unit of torque: a force of one newton applied one meter from the pivot. Wheel-nut and engine-bolt torques are specified in N·m.
Newton Centimeter (N·cm)
A newton-centimeter is one hundredth of a newton-meter, used for small fasteners and precision instruments.
Kilonewton Meter (kN·m)
A kilonewton-meter is 1,000 newton-meters, used for large machinery and structural bending moments.
Kilogram Force Meter (kgf·m)
A kilogram-force meter is one kilogram-force applied one meter from the pivot, exactly 9.80665 newton-meters.
Ounce Force Inch (ozf·in)
An ounce-force inch is one sixteenth of a pound-force inch, about 7.06 millinewton-meters, used for tiny motors and screws.
Pound Force Foot (lbf·ft)
A pound-force foot (lb·ft) is one pound-force applied one foot from the pivot, about 1.356 newton-meters. Engine torque in the United States is quoted in lb·ft.
Pound Force Inch (lbf·in)
A pound-force inch is one twelfth of a pound-force foot, about 0.113 newton-meters, used for small fasteners.
