How to convert electric current

All 6 electric current units are converted through a single base unit, so any unit can be converted to any other. Enter a value, choose the units and press Convert, or open a conversion page for the exact factor and a reference table.

For example, 1 amperes (A) = 1,000 milliamperes (mA).

Electric Current unit definitions

Amperes (A)
The ampere is the SI base unit of electric current, defined by fixing the elementary charge. A phone charger supplies about 1 to 3 A, and a household circuit is typically 15 to 20 A.
Milliamperes (mA)
A milliampere is one thousandth of an ampere. Electronics, LEDs and USB device currents are usually stated in mA.
Microamperes (µA)
A microampere is one millionth of an ampere, typical of sensor signals and standby currents.
Kiloamperes (kA)
A kiloampere is 1,000 amperes, seen in welding, electrolysis and short-circuit ratings.
