How to convert fuel consumption

All 29 fuel consumption units are converted through a single base unit, so any unit can be converted to any other. Enter a value, choose the units and press Convert, or open a conversion page for the exact factor and a reference table.

For example, 1 meter per liter (m/L) = 0.001 kilometer per liter (km/L). Units measured "per" each other, such as litres per 100 km and kilometres per litre, are inverse quantities and are converted exactly rather than by a fixed multiplier.

Fuel Consumption unit definitions

Meter per Liter (m/L)
Meters per liter is the base unit of this converter: how many meters a vehicle travels per liter of fuel.
Kilometer per Liter (km/L)
Kilometers per liter is the distance travelled per liter of fuel; higher is better.
Liter per 100 Km (L/100 km)
Liters per 100 km states how much fuel a vehicle uses over 100 kilometers; lower is better. It is the standard in Europe and is the inverse of distance-per-volume units.
Mile per Gallon US (mi/gal (US))
Miles per US gallon is the US fuel-economy unit. 1 mpg (US) is about 0.425 km/L.
Mile per Gallon UK (mi/gal (UK))
Miles per imperial gallon is the UK fuel-economy unit, about 1.2 US mpg for the same consumption.
