How to convert Kelvin to Celsius
Temperature scales have different zero points, so use the formula °C = K − 273.15 rather than a multiplier. The table below applies it to common values; for the opposite direction use the Celsius to Kelvin converter.
About these units
Kelvin (K)
The kelvin is the SI unit of temperature, starting at absolute zero (0 K = −273.15 °C). Kelvin steps are the same size as Celsius degrees, and no degree sign is used.
Celsius (°C)
The Celsius scale sets 0 °C at the freezing point of water and 100 °C at its boiling point at standard pressure. It is the everyday temperature scale almost everywhere outside the United States.
